Whether it's a bad back, a knee that won't settle or an injury from the gym, a good physio can make a real difference. Here's what's worth checking before you book.
In the UK, 'physiotherapist' is a protected title: anyone using it must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You can search the HCPC register online by name in a minute.
Sports massage therapists and sports therapists can be excellent for tight muscles and recovery, but they aren't regulated in the same way. Ask about their qualifications and insurance, and see a physio if you have an injury that needs assessing.
How long the first appointment is (it's usually an assessment as well as treatment), what it costs, roughly how many sessions people with your problem tend to need, and whether they work with your health insurance if you have it.
Every business in our lists has at least 4.7 stars on Google from 25 or more reviews: physiotherapists in Stockton and sports massage in Middlesbrough.
